The Simple Version

I do not want your data.

Running servers, storing personal information, managing compliance databases — that is a full-time job and a legal headache. Murmr is intentionally built so I do not have to collect, store, or manage your personal data.

Murmr runs locally. Your voice stays on your device. That is by design.

1. Overview

Murmr captures speech and transforms it into structured text.

All speech transcription and language processing happens primarily on your device using Apple-provided system frameworks.

Murmr does not operate its own servers and does not collect personal data.

2. Speech & Transcription Data

When you use Murmr:

  • Your voice is recorded locally on your device.
  • Transcription is performed using Apple's Speech framework.
  • Text refinement is performed using Apple on-device language models.

Murmr does not send your recordings or transcripts to any server operated by EightyThreeApps.

Apple Speech Processing

Apple may process certain speech data depending on your device settings (for example, "Improve Siri & Dictation").

This processing is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/

Murmr does not control Apple's speech infrastructure and does not receive identifiable speech data from Apple.

3. Language Model Processing

Any language model usage within Murmr is performed:

  • On-device
  • Using Apple-provided frameworks
  • Without external API calls
  • Without transmitting your content to third-party AI services

Murmr does not use cloud-based AI services.

4. iCloud (Optional)

If you enable iCloud syncing:

  • Data may sync using Apple's iCloud services.
  • This is handled entirely by Apple.
  • Murmr does not access your iCloud credentials.
  • Murmr does not maintain its own cloud database.

5. Analytics & Diagnostics

Murmr does not include third-party analytics SDKs.

We rely only on Apple's App Store Connect reporting, which may include:

  • Install counts
  • Device type statistics
  • Crash reports
  • Aggregated, anonymized usage metrics

6. Data Storage

All recordings, transcripts, and outputs are stored locally on your device unless you choose to export them.

Deleting the app removes its local data.

7. Data Sharing

Murmr does not: Sell data. Share data with advertisers. Use tracking frameworks. Build user profiles.

Any sharing of content happens only when you choose to export or share it.

8. Children's Privacy

Murmr does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

All processing occurs locally on-device.

9. Changes to This Policy

If Murmr ever introduces optional cloud features, this policy will be updated before those features are made available.
